President Jeff Hagstrom welcomed all to the September 15th meeting of the Brattleboro Rotary Club held at the American Legion in Brattleboro; the last summer meeting of the club. Jeremy Colemanoffered a meaningful invocation. This was followed by the pledge of allegiance.Birthday greetings were extended to: Frank Rucker.
As a luncheon of roast beef, salad, potatoes, chick peas, and cookies for desert was being digested, the meeting continued.

For our Rotary joke of the week, Ron Stahley told versions of the following:
A woman arrives at the Pearly Gates, and meets Saint Peter. She says,"I was supposed to look up my husband when I got here" Saint Peter says, "What's his name?" She replies, "Smith". Saint Peter says, "I've got hundreds of thousands of Smiths here, could you narrow it down a little?" She says, "His name is John Smith". A man and his wife, now in their 60's, were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. On their special day a good fairy came to them and said that because they had been so good that each one of them could have one wish. The wife wished for a trip around the world with her husband. Marty Cohn was fined for not asking Assistant District Governor Bill Stevens to buy a raffle ticket. Marty paid the fine; Bill bought a ticket.
