Invocation:

Stan offered the following - As we gather here today as members of Rotary, we pray that we are ever mindful of opportunities to render our service to fellow citizens and to our community. Keeping in mind always the enduring values of life, exerting our efforts in those areas and on those things upon which future generations can build with confidence. Let us strive to make a better world. Amen.

ROTARY MINUTE

Ted Kramer filled in at the last minute for a related member who shall remain nameless with a stroll down memory lane, enumerating past members, many of which even I knew. Members were encouraged to remind Debbie Boyle that we're still here.

Note for future presenters; The Rotary Minute could also have the speaker talk about their personal involvement in Rotary or personal background.

Announcements

The club donated $1,025 to Groundworks raised from the Rotarians Cook Soup lunch.

 - Groundworks meal 2/11 - everything covered
 - Ski jump - Betsy passed around a sign up and reminded us that this is a mandatory work event replacing Xmas tree sales. Contributions of $50 or more will be accepted in lieu of participation, but you'll miss the fun. There is a training for cashiers scheduled for after the next meeting. I think we're set, but I suggest a few people who haven't already signed up stick around.
 - There was a fundraiser for Ukraine that evening
 - President Chris noted that we can't use the space on 3/12 and will need a roadshow. NEYT may be an option. Details will be provided.
 - Frank - leftovers from our lunch are not being donated to Groundworks. Much acclaim due Frank for his ongoing service.

NINA – reminder SUGAR on snow during carnival.  Sat Feb 21st.   Sign up sheet being passed around.  Last year a couple hundred people. More this year because not in competition with ski jump.

Happy Dollars and Brags and Fines

- Bill McKim for vacation (Some noted his good color gave him away)
- Bill V. - He momentarily lead us down a culturally inappropriate path and then bragged for his two smallest chicks out of the flock of chickens.
- Tom bragged for Betsy's handling of what could have been a difficult conversation
- Rudy seeking people to help him get back into playing chess
- Frank R was fined in absentia for a picture in the paper. In light of his outstanding service to the community TF overpaid the fine.

  • Please bring your bottles and cans to the Putney Road redemption center to benefit APPN.  Pure Water for the World is no longer operating in the USA; it continues in Honduras as APPN.
Maria Inestroza, the PWW country director for Honduras is continuing the work in that country under the name APPM, acronym for Agua Pura para El Mundo, or Pure Water for the World in Spanish Pure Water for the World. Please remember to inform the staff that the bottles and cans should be credited to the club.

PROGRAM
Mike introduced Hanna Parker (Principal) and Rhonda Winegarner(Dual Enrollment Coordinator) from BUHS. They gave a great presentation on the college-level education opportunities available to regional high school students and the outcomes thereof. My takeaway - this program can help students get ahead in both college and career and save boatloads of money. For more information see
