President Jeff Hagstrom welcomed all to the September 29th meeting of the Brattleboro Rotary Club held at the American Legion in Brattleboro. Linda Dierksoffered a meaningful invocation which was followed by the pledge of allegiance.Birthday greetings were extended to: Bill Daley.
As a luncheon of roast beef, green beans, chick pea salad, and cookies for dessert was being digested, the meeting continued.

For our Rotary joke, Phil Steckler told a version of the following:
Little Johnny was in his Kindergarten class when the teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came up - fireman, policeman, salesman. Johnny was being uncharacteristically quiet, and so the teacher asked him about his father. "My father's an exotic dancer in a gay cabaret and takes off all his clothes in front of other men. The teacher hurriedly set the other children to work on some coloring in and took little Johnny aside to ask him "Is that really true about your father?" "No," said Johnny, "he really works for the Republican National Committee helping to elect Donald Trump and that’s too embarrassing.”

In August 1910, Rotarians held their first convention in Chicago. The 16 clubs that existed at that time united to form the National Association of Rotary Clubs. In 1912, the name changed to International Association of Rotary Clubs to reflect the addition of clubs in other countries. The name Rotary International was adopted in 1922.
