WELCOME

President George Weir welcomed all to the February 8^th meeting of the Brattleboro Rotary Club held at the American Legion in Brattleboro. Bill Vermouth offered the following invocation:

Bless us, O Lord, with they Thy gifts.
Prosper us in our labor and grant that we may become
true and loyal Rotarians, exemplifying the object of Rotary
in our services to our communities and families. Amen.

This was followed by the pledge of allegiance.

As a luncheon of meatloaf, pork loin, rice, broccoli, black beans, salad, rolls and cookies for dessert was being digested, the meeting continued.

ROTARY MINUTE

For our Rotary minute, Jerry Theberge reminded us of all the international projects in which the club participated over the past 25 years. (ED NOTE: Rotary added International to its name in 1922). First the club participated in Group Study Exchanges. Then we collaborated with SIT. Under Peter Abel’s leadership, we got involved in El Salvador with building schools and medical/dental trips). We helped establish Pure Water for the World. Raised money for Polio Plus. Under Jeremy Coleman’s leadership, we built two homes in Mexico with Casita Linda. Under Marty Cohn’s leadership, we got involved with Pine Ridge Indian Reservation by buying equipment for KILI Radio, refurbishing laptops, funding solar panels, and collecting/shipping quilting materials.

A thank you was received from Pure Water for the World for a club donation.
Tristam Johnson reported that our collaboration with Sunrise Rotary on a nutrition project during school vacations has been successful. Two Brattleboro communities are served with over 30 kids receiving meals for three weeks.
There will be a roadshow to Brattleboro Music Center on 2/22. Contact Bill McKim or Dave Twombly for more info.
