President Greg Worden welcomed welcomed all to the June 23rd meeting of the Brattleboro Rotary Club held at the American Legion in Brattleboro. Irma Robertson offered a meaningful invocation in which she read a poem by Helen Steiner Rice. This was followed by the pledge of allegiance.Birthday greetings were extended to Dave Twombly,
As a luncheon of BBQ chicken, pork loin, macaroni salad, green salad, potatoes, string beans and ice cream for dessert was being digested, the meeting continued.

JOKE / SONG OF THE WEEK
For our Rotary joke, George Weir told a version of the following joke:
A priest, a rabbi, and an engineer were scheduled to die by the guillotine. The priest is up first. The executioner asks, would you like to die face up, or face down? The priest replies, "face up, so I may see my father's face, as I go." The executioner positions him face up, under the guillotine, pulls the lever, and the blade stops about 6 inches above his neck. They take it as an act of God, and release him. The rabbi is up next. The executioner asks, would you like to die face up, or face down? The rabbi replies, "I admire the faith of the priest, so I wish to do the same." So the executioner positions the rabbi face up, pulls the lever, and the guillotine stops about 6 inches above his neck. They take it as an act of God, and release him. Finally it is the engineer's turn to die. The executioner asks, would you like to die face up, or face down? The engineer replies, "well the logical way to go would be face up, as it certainly turned out fine for the other two." So the executioner positions him face up. Right before the executioner pulls the lever, the engineer loudly proclaims, "Hey! I think I see the problem here!"

ANNOUNCEMENTS
There is no club luncheon meeting on June 30th. Rather it is the Changeover Dinner at 5:30PM at the Brattleboro Country Club.
The Golf Tournament raised $30,000 allowing the club to donate $5,000 to a local youth organization and $25,000 to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.
Every Rotary Every Year has a 70% club participation. There is still one more week for members to contribute.
There is a meeting of the Gift Giving Committee following today’s club meeting.
The club needs one more volunteer to staff the registration desk.
Golf sponsorship signs are ready to be picked up.
