ROTARY MINUTE
For our Rotary minute, Marty Cohn talked about the why Rotarians should wear Rotary lapel pins.
Reasons for wearing a pin varied: for publicity of Rotary, for pride, for acceptance and recognition, for the start of easy conversation with other Rotarians wherever you go. Wearing a Rotary Fellowship pin shows a Rotarian’s vocation, he creational interest. Past RI President Bob Barth (1993-94, from the Rotary Club of Aarau, Switzerland) felt that a Rotary pin says this about the wearer: “You can rely on me, I am dependable, I am reliable, I give more than I take, and I am available.”
At our January 18th meeting, Ron Stahley will tell a joke or lead us in song, while Robin Sweetapple delivers a Rotary Minute.

Student Rotarians from Hinsdale and Boys & Girls Club gave their reports
Due to the snow storm last week, the club only raised $350 for “Feed the Thousands.” Please consider donating $13 at next week’s meeting.
If you can’t fulfill your weekly assignment, please swap with another member.
The Gateway Foundation board will be meeting after the regular club meeting on 2/1.
A Martin Luther King Jr. celebration will be taking place on 1/15 at 5:30 pm at Centre Congregational Church.
A card is being sent to Cyndi Ferrante for the loss of her sister.
The winner of this year’s Jesse Corum Scholarship will be announced within the next two weeks.
The club’s next meal at the Seasonal Overflow Shelter will take place on 1/17/18. Eleven members are participating.

PROGRAM:
Marty Cohn presented Chloe Learey, executive director of Winston Prouty Center for Child & Family Development. Chloe has a MBA and MPH from Boston University. She serves on Building Bright Futures State Advisory Council, a governor appointed body which advises the administration and legislature on early childhood care, health, and education systems. Chloe is a visionary businessperson who manages a staff of 40 and an annual budget of over $1.5M. She discussed how business needs to be involved in early childhood education.
